Parallel Arguments

Examine each point side-by-side.

To create a Parallel Arguments table:

Step 1:  Create a table with the three column headings:  'Issue', 'Argument For' and 'Argument Against'.

Step 2:  List the issues down the left-hand column.

Step 3:  State the arguments 'for' and 'against' each issue.

Step 4:  What are the real points of view? Not just the ones expressed in argument form. Try to get beyond the talking points. Get past the posturing.

Step 5:  Analyze the parallel nature of the issue; point-by-point and as a whole.

Step 6:  Next, go to Agree, Disagree, and Irrelevant.
